Dr. Dhananjay Datar
Dr. Dhananjay Datar is the Chairman and Managing Director of Adil Trading Co. LLC and is popularly known as the ‘Masala King’ of the Gulf. He is a great example of how vision, hard work, and determination can turn a small idea into a big success.
Starting with a small grocery store in Bur Dubai, Dr. Datar saw an opportunity in the market and worked step by step to build a successful business. Today, Adil Trading Co. LLC has grown into a well-known brand with 50 retail outlets, two flour mills, and two spice factories spread across the Middle East.
With a Doctorate in Business Administration, Dr. Datar continues to lead with passion and innovation, serving millions of customers and supporting the growth of the Indian food industry in the Gulf region. He also takes pride in inspiring the younger generation to step up and explore the world of entrepreneurship, encouraging them to dream big and build their own paths to success.
Vandana Datar
Vandana Datar is the Finance Director of Adil Trading Co. LLC, a leading name in the retail and distribution of Indian food products across the GCC.
Beyond her executive responsibilities, Vandana Datar is widely recognized for her inspiring personal journey. Her transformational weight loss story, in which she shed over 26 kilograms through determination and discipline, has been widely covered in regional media. Her journey resonates with many as a symbol of perseverance and self-belief.
Vandana is also known for her involvement in community welfare and cultural initiatives, reflecting her holistic approach to leadership — one that balances business success with social responsibility. Her vision, resilience, and ability to lead by example continue to inspire both her team and the larger business community.
Hrishikesh Datar
Hrishikesh Datar, Director of Legal, HR, Procurement and Logistics at Adil Trading Co. LLC, has been active in the Indian food retail and wholesale industry for over 15 years. His journey began with an eight-year internship during which he learned the business from the ground up. From working as a cashier to taking on roles as a sales representative and procurement executive, he gained practical experience while simultaneously completing his education.
After finishing his studies, Hrishikesh officially joined Adil Trading Co. LLC as the Managing Director’s secretary, a role that allowed him to observe leadership closely and understand the strategic backbone of the organization. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and is now a Director, responsible for overseeing crucial departments such as Legal, Human Resources, Procurement, and Logistics.
His growth within the company is a reflection of his dedication, discipline, and deep respect for the family legacy. Hrishikesh’s story stands as an inspiration to aspiring professionals; a reminder that humility, hands-on experience, and a willingness to learn can pave the way to meaningful leadership.
Rohit Datar
Rohit Datar, Retail Director of Adil Trading Co. LLC, plays a key role in modernizing and expanding the family business.
After completing his education, Rohit followed his father’s philosophy of learning the business from the ground up. He began with entry-level roles and gradually worked his way up, gaining first-hand experience in the day-to-day operations of the company.
Drawing from his professional background with top digital marketing agencies in India and the UAE, Rohit has brought a fresh, customer-centric perspective to retail at Adil. His deep understanding of consumer behavior and digital trends has played a key role in modernizing the retail experience optimizing in-store engagement and driving footfall through strategic digital initiatives
Looking to the future, Rohit envisions expanding Adil's footprint into African and European markets to better serve the global Indian diaspora. His focus lies in embracing technology, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence to streamline operations.
